Pelicans Diving

 Icarus falls,

Wax and feather wings,

Air and ice,

Salt and waves.

And a rowboat too small to land in,

A woman at the oars,

Rowing against waves,

Against the eternity of salt,

Not fast enough,

Not strong enough,

To reach.

Grief raises the ocean,

Drop by futile drop,

As she rows for home,

And Daedalus,

Who did not fall.
